Rupert M. Loydell, TOWARD THE DISTANT CORNER

TOWARD THE DISTANT CORNER

'an open air museum filled
with clues hidden in plain sight'
   – Greil Marcus, The Doors

things did seem kind of magical
in retrospect kind of magical

spirit animal the only time
I've seen a dead human being

things did seem to void structure
the street outside controlled

chaotic sprawl drifting to void
on all sides downtown

scrapyard lullaby power colour
on all sides downtown

scrapyard lullaby power spirit
animal colour the only time

time & space reports from the field
space time among the verticals

each motion formally scripted
time among verticals in motion

formally scripted & structured
controlled chaotic sprawl

drifting an ocean you rent
an ocean only you could see

welded report from the inside
tailgate sparks inside & out

this is not a dead human being
this is not a streetlight's glare

shattered gas station open
lights toward the corner

this is magic inside & out
this is a scrapyard lullaby
